Community Church

encouraging people to follow Jesus

Mission Statement

“Community Church of Mexico, Indiana exists to encourage people to follow Jesus…one step at a time.”

What We Believe

We believe that the Bible is the inspired, authoritative Word of God and without error in the original writings. It is the complete and final revelation of God and is the standard by which all followers of Christ are called to live.

Deuteronomy 6:6-9| Psalm 19:7-10| John 17:17 | 2 Timothy 3:15-17 | 2 Peter 1:16-21

We believe there is only one God, eternally existing in three Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, Who are equal in their divine nature, attributes, and perfection. God is worthy of all honor, glory, and worship.

Genesis 1:1 | Isaiah 43:10-11 | John 1:1-5 | Ephesians 1:1-4 | Revelation 4:11

We believe the Father is the One Who planned the work of salvation and sent His Son Jesus to carry it out. The Father does not delight in death and desires for all to be saved.

Ezekiel 18:32 | John 1:1-3 |1 Timothy 2:4 | Hebrews 1:1-4 | 1 John 4:10

We believe Jesus Christ is the Son of God, virgin born, fully God and fully man. Jesus lived a sinless life and paid for the sin of the world through His death on the cross, completely satisfying the penalty of God’s wrath against sin. After His death, Jesus rose from the dead, revealed Himself to many, and then ascended to the right hand of the Father where He is interceding for us. The work of Jesus provided forgiveness and redemption for all who believe.

Isaiah 52:13-53:12 | Mark 14:61-62 | John 1:1-3, 14, 29 | Romans 3:25-30 | Colossians 1:13-17

We believe the Holy Spirit convicts us of sin and causes spiritual birth. He indwells, seals, and sanctifies us at the point of salvation and fills us with all that is needed for life and godliness.

Ezekiel 36:26-27 | John 14:15-17 | John 14:26 | Romans 8:26 | Galatians 5:22-23

We believe that God created mankind, male and female, in His own image. Though created in holiness, man fell into sin through willful disobedience to the revealed will of God. As a result of this fall, all mankind is sinful by nature and in practice, and we are unable to save ourselves from the penalty of sin, which is eternal separation from God.

Genesis 1:27 | Genesis 3:1-24 | Matthew 25:41 | Romans 1:18 | Romans 3:9-23

We believe that salvation is only by the grace of God through faith in Jesus Christ Who lived a perfect and sinless life. Our salvation is made possible by the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus. All who receive the Lord Jesus Christ through faith are declared righteous by God and become children of God.

Luke 19:10 | John 1:1-14 | John 17:3 | 1 Corinthians 15:1-3 | Galatians 2:16

We believe that each person is responsible to respond to the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Everyone who responds to the Gospel with repentance and faith are born again through the power of the Holy Spirit becoming a new creation and receiving eternal life at the moment they believe.

Psalm 51:1-19 | Mark 1:15 | Romans 1:16 | Romans 10:9-17 | Revelation 22:17

We believe justification to be our reconciliation to God through the work of Jesus Christ. It includes the pardon of sin, and the promise of eternal life. Justification cannot be earned through any work of man but is freely given by God through faith in Jesus Christ.

Acts 10:34-43 | Romans 5:1-11 | Romans 5:17-18 | Titus 3:5-7 | 1 John 2:25

We believe that sanctification is the process by which, according to the will of God, we become more like Christ. This is a progressive work that begins at salvation through the Word of God, self-examination, self-control, patience, godliness, and prayer, all through the power of the Holy Spirit Who indwells in the life of the believer.

Luke 9:23 | Ephesians 6:10-18 | Galatians 5:16-24 | 1 Thessalonians 4:3-8 | 2 Peter 1:5-8

We believe that the local church is a gathered body of baptized believers bound by a covenant of fellowship and faithful obedience to Jesus Christ. God has given two offices to govern His church: Elders or Pastors and Deacons, whose qualifications and responsibilities are defined in 1 Timothy and Titus. The church is to represent Christ and reflect His light into the world through loving God and neighbor.

John 14:15 | Acts 2:38-42 | 1 Timothy 3:1-13 | Hebrews 10:24-25 | 1 John 1:5-9

We believe in a believer’s baptism, in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit as a visible expression of our faith in the crucified, buried, and risen Savior. Water baptism is a command given and demonstrated by Jesus. It is a requirement for church membership. The Lord’s Supper, likewise, was established by Christ as a remembrance of our Savior’s atoning death and should only be observed by followers of Christ. The cup and the bread symbolize the giving of Christ’s body and the shedding of His blood.

Matthew 3:13-17 | Matthew 28:19-20 | Luke 22:14-20 | Acts 2:38-42 | 1 Corinthians 11:17-32

We believe that our Lord Jesus Himself will return and will judge the world in righteousness by committing the unsaved to eternal punishment and those saved to eternal glory with God. Jesus will return and usher in a new heaven and new earth where we will have everlasting fellowship with our God and Savior.

Matthew 25:31-46 | 1 Corinthians 15:12-58 | 1 Thessalonians 4:13-5:11 | Revelation 19:11-16 | Revelation 20:11-21:8

We believe God has defined and ordained marriage as the exclusive union between one man and one woman. Godly marriage is a visible representation of our relationship with Christ, a covenant before our Creator. Therefore, it must not be redefined by man. Marriage is a picture of the bond between Christ and His church.

Genesis 2:18-25 | Matthew 19:4-12 | Romans 1:26-27 | Ephesians 5:22-33 | Hebrews 13:4

We believe God has spoken through His Word as to the nature of human beings. We believe that mankind is unique among all creation and that God created male and female in His image. As the Author of Life, God has appointed our days for His good purpose. As His image-bearers, we value and protect life which begins at conception.

Genesis 1:26-27 | Psalm 139:13-16 | Matthew 22:37-39 | Acts 17:24-26 | Romans 12:18-21

Sunday morning service begins at 9:30 followed by Sunday School for everyone.

Regarding Sunday School, think small groups of people getting together after the church service to learn and build relationships with each other.

We have children and youth environments for all ages that allow students to interact with one another and build relationships together.

Mid-Week Connections

Tuesday evenings we have a Bible Study that begins at 6 o’clock.

The 1st Wednesday of the month, we have a gathering to share about what is going on in our lives and share ways that we can pray for each other. These gatherings are known as our Praise & Prayer Gatherings.

The 2nd Wednesday of the month we meet to write notes of encouragement to people in the church and the community. We also have several who gather for a cup of coffee and conversation.

The 3rd Wednesday of the month we gather for a meal and everyone looks to bring something to share. We all enjoy a time of fellowship together.
